How-To-Organize-Your-Golf-Bag

Did you know that simply organizing your golf bag can actually make you a better player? Let’s start from the beginning and learn how to organize your golf bag.

There are basically two types of bags: golf carry bags (the ones you carry yourself when walking) and golf cart bags (carried by the golf cart when you ride)

All golf bags have compartments where the golf clubs must be placed. Each golfer has his or her own way of doing this and putting clubs where he or she wants them. Some golfers are lazy and just stick their clubs in various compartments, grabbing whichever one they want when a particular club is needed.

Did you know that like everything else in life, there is a way to organize a golf bag. The biggest advantage of organizing a golf bag is that it will be much easier for you to compete because you will know where everything is. You won’t have to search for anything in the middle of a round of your game and throw away your concentration.

Step-By-Step: Organize your Golf Bag

We actually looked around the web and realized that not many websites have actually addressed this but there are different ways to organize a golf cart bag and golf carry bag. So, let’s learn how to organize your golf bag.

Organizing your Carry Bag

Most carry bags come with 3 sections and cart bags come with around 14-15 sections depending on the brand and design you opted for. So, we will have to address each of these separately. These steps describe organization of a carry bag:

Step 1

Most carry golf bags are divided into three sections. You should divide your clubs evenly into these sections. Place the tallest clubs at the back and the shortest at the front so that the club heads waterfall toward you, making it is easy to see all club heads as you face your bag.

Step 2

Place your woods in the first section of your golf bag. This may include your driver, 3-wood and 5-wood. If you have a hybrid club, you may want to include it in this section as well. Your putter also goes in the section with your woods.

Step 3

Your long irons must go in the second section. This includes your 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-irons. These are the irons you will use from the fairway or short rough. Many golfers no longer carry a 2-iron. If you don’t have one, you can also put your 6-iron in this section.

Step 4

Your short irons go in the third section. This includes your 7-, 8- and 9-irons along with your pitching wedge and sand wedge. If you have a lob or gap wedge, it will go in this section as well.

Step 5

The number of pockets in a carry bag generally range around 3-8 and they can be used to store golf balls, tees, any apparels you use on course, water bottle etc.

Organizing your Cart Bag

A cart bag has a front, where the hand-carry handle is, and a back. When placed on a cart, the front is positioned facing you as you stand behind the cart. These steps describe organization of a cart bag:

Step 1

Most of cart bags are set up with 15 individual sections, 14 for the clubs and a ball retriever. If this is your bag’s design, start at the back with the longest club (your driver or 3-wood) and place the rest of your clubs in the remaining slots in descending order, using the left and right halves of the bag for the odd- and even-numbered clubs. Your putter can be placed in the integrated putter slot provided in most of these bags.

Step 2

You want the taller woods at the back, wherever your bag happens to be, so that they won’t block out your shorter clubs when you are looking for them.

Step 3

Fill one of your side pockets with golf balls and tees. If you have a long section that extends the length of the bag, use it for your shoes. Leave one small section empty to store any food or drinks you bring onto the course.

There you have the optimum way to organize your golf clubs in a golf cart bag and carry bag. We seriously hope this helps you organize your golf bag in a much better manner.
